Coach – Lynda Kellam. A fully qualified Level 3 cycling coach with the Association of British Cycle Coaches and British Cycling Regional Commissaire.
I have around 15 years of cycling experience starting with club riding and sportives and progressing to track accreditation at the London velodrome and road racing in recent years.
I have four top ten finishes in my age category in the UCI World Gran Fondo series since 2015 and have represented GB at the UCI Finals for this series. I achieved a sub 5-hour finish time for the 100 mile Ride London sportive at the age of 51 and have consistently finished in the top 20 in my age category at the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
Having come to cycling relatively late in life, I am a firm believer that you’re never too old to learn or to improve your physical fitness, technical or tactical skills on a bike. I am also passionate about increasing participation and performance in women’s cycling at all levels and fully understand the barriers that exist in getting women into the sport.
I have had a 29-year career in the pharmaceutical industry as a clinical scientist and statistician and so have a good understanding of anatomy and physiology and excellent data analysis and interpretation skills. I put these skills to good use in my approach to coaching with in-depth fitness testing and review of all training and ride data to identify areas for improvement and assess progress on all physiological and technical aspects of cycling.
Just as importantly as riders’ fitness and physical abilities, I understand the importance of the psychological and motivational aspects of bike riding and aim to build riders’ confidence and maintain enthusiasm and commitment.
