Training Plans

At CRCC coaching starts with a free no-obligation consultation either in person or over the phone, where we will discuss what you want to achieve from coaching, your available training time and previous cycling experience. If you then want to move ahead with a training plan the first step is a detailed consultation which involves a questionnaire and discussion of specific training goals and a baseline fitness assessment which includes a range of power, heart rate, strength & flexibility assessments. This will usually be done at the CRCC training cabin over 2 different sessions although some of the tests can be done at home or on-bike depending on the equipment the rider has.

A detailed training plan is then written in MS EXCEL covering an agreed time period (usually 3 months, 6 months or 1 year). The plan will include training zones for heart rate (and power if you have a power meter/smart trainer), details of each phase of training (what will be done, how it will be done, training volume, progression measurement, measures to prevent over training etc).

For those aiming to race or ride a specific cycling event the plan will include an event profile with identified training needs. The training plan will also include specific daily training sessions for each week – these are sent on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

There are 3 different levels of training plan package (see Pricing) which cover a range of contact, feedback frequency and coaching support.
